Knot Just Sailing is all about helping our members refresh and expand their sailing knowledge in a fun, social, and hands-on way. Whether it’s knot tying, rigging, safety drills, or sailing theory, these weekly sessions ensure everyone is confident and ready to set sail aboard the traditional Galway Hooker. It’s also a great excuse to share stories and have the craic!

Knot tying is a must-have skill for any sailor! These relaxed, interactive sessions allow you to learn, practice, and perfect your knots.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Master essential knots – Cleat, Clove Hitch, Bowline, Reef Knot, Figure of 8, and more.
  • Gain confidence using knots in real-life sailing scenarios.
  • Pass on your skills or learn from fellow sailors in a hands-on setting.

Hooker Rigging

Learn the basics of Hooker rigging in a friendly, supportive environment. Led by experienced crew and skippers, these sessions help you understand the sail systems that make these boats unique.

  • Rigging terminology – know your halyard from your sheet.
  • Fundamentals of setting up and handling sails.
  • Meet and learn from fellow crew members in a relaxed setting.

Safety Awareness Sessions

Safety on the water is essential for both crew and skippers. These sessions focus on best practices, preparation tips, and emergency responses.

and Points of Sail
