Triona, a Galway native, joined the club after meeting Ciaran Oliver through the Sea Scouts and going to the Harbour Festival. There she saw women skippers and boat owners. She had thought that these were typically masculine roles and was delighted to be proved wrong as the club is both diverse and inclusive. Triona then did the Hooker Skills Course and was nominated for the committee role of Membership Secretary by fellow Sea Scouter on her first year in the club. She has since started on her sailing and powerboat learning journey. Triona has always had a grá for the sea and is an avid sea swimmer, snorkeler and now trainee boat woman. Triona has a special interest in social issues in particular inclusion and diversity.
