With the completion of our new workshop, we have begun running woodworking classes for our members initially and hope to open these to the community early next year.
From the basics of understanding how to use power tools, woodworking saws, chisels and planers, to short courses on how to build a spar gauge, a saw horse to replacing planks and seats on Anam Cara, one of our Hooker fleet that is currently in the workshop for repairs.
Woodworking classes are delivered by Patrick Klose, who moved to Galway from Germany in June 2025 and joined the club as a member. Patrick is a qualified cabinet maker and vast experience working with wood, as well as sailor who spent time sailing on the east Baltic sea and in the Netherlands.
